A communications company built around evenings
We build communities that meet in person, on a regular calendar — dinners, talks and working sessions run by local chapters and the people who host them.
What we do
Most communication now happens on a screen. We work on the part that does not: getting a group of people into the same room, often enough that they start to know each other.
Freeman Maple organises that work into city chapters. Each chapter has hosts, a calendar and a small, steady group of members. We supply the format, the introductions and the logistics; the chapter supplies the evenings.
The name comes from the Freeman maple, a hybrid tree that grows quickly and keeps its shape. It is a fair description of a good chapter.
The room does the work
A shared table changes how people listen. We keep the formats small and the calendar regular, so the second evening is easier than the first.
- SmallRooms sized for one conversation, not a crowd
- RegularA monthly rhythm members can plan around
- LocalHosts who live in the city they run
How we work
Three things stay the same in every city.
Local and self-run
Each chapter sets its own calendar and chooses its own rooms. We help it start and keep it going.
Members first
Hosts come from the membership. Anyone who has been to a few evenings can apply to run one.
Dinners, talks, sessions
Three formats, each with a clear shape, so a first-time guest knows what the evening will be.
House rules
They read like the evenings: short.
- Arrive on time and stay for the whole thing.
- Talk to someone you did not come with.
- Phones away while the table is talking.
- What is said at the table stays there.
